Victorian House Plans have details, details, details! In the mid-19th century, architects moved toward rich, unique home designs, and away from simple Colonial home styles. The Industrialization Era played a big role, as new framing options were available and mass-produced. The availability of decorative ornamentation became relatively inexpensive. Bay windows, turrets, and multiple rooflines replaced the rectangular shapes of the past. These asymmetrical house designs have wide verandas, towers, and often vibrant colors. Victorian style homes began their downfall around 1920, but Victorian style homes are still perfect for those wanting opulence inside and out.
