Courtyard

A courtyard is a private open space surrounded primarily by walls or other buildings. Historically, in China as far back as 3000 BC courtyards were used for cooking, sleeping, working, playing or as a place to keep animals. Courtyards are more prevalent in homes designed for temperate climates where the outdoors truly plays an important role in a homeowner’s lifestyle. There are many comforts offered by a courtyard including air, light, security, privacy and tranquility. Look for courtyards in many of our sunbelt, Florida style, Beach/Coastal style and adobe style house plans.
