This is the time in the homebuilding process where things take shape quickly. This definitely has to be the most fun time during the building process so far because every single day it seems that a part of the home is created. In the matter of a week, we went from having a few pieces of lumber sticking out of the floorboards to having a home almost entirely under roof. It literally felt like this transformation occurred overnight. One day we were headed to the house to see the progress and out in the distance down the road as we approached we saw our actual house! Not just some pieces of wood and nondescript building materials on a jobsite, but an actual front facade with a roof going into place. The trusses were all placed and most windows were in. They are really flying right along.
And, as soon as our home is under roof, then there is really not much of a chance weather delays will occur. So, what a difference a week makes!
Next, the roofing materials will be added. There are many types of roofing materials to choose from, but with Craftsman style house designs similar to our home, a standard shingle looks attractive and is cost effective. I have a feeling those will be the next addition during building and I’m looking forward to seeing the shingles in place!
