Vaulted/Volume Ceiling

A vaulted ceiling is a ceiling style that slopes up to a peak like an upside down "V", while a volume ceiling is described as a two-story ceiling with a flat ceiling. Adding a vaulted or volume ceiling to an interior instantly creates spaciousness to a room. To add a rustic touch to a mountain or lake house plan, often a designer will include rustic wood beams within the design of a vault creating a custom feel that really accentuates the rustic style a mountain house plan provides. Whether your house plan is luxury, Country French style or Contemporary, vaulted and volume ceilings can be found throughout a variety of architectural styles.
